    The experts say your voice should be warmed up at the start of each day, prior to talking, and cooled down at bed time.

    Thanks, Mary! This is good advice and a good reminder of some useful warm-ups. But I’m not clear on why it is important to “cool down” your voice after singing…

    The article in The Journal of Singing mentioned how thin the layer of cells is on the surface of our vocal cords, and as a result how easily we can damage them. For example, clearing your throat? Not a good thing. I’ll check back to see if they explain exactly what warm-ups and cool-downs do, other than to say they’re good. Stay tuned.
