PARTY TIME

Has there ever been a year that deserves a gala party to close it out more than this year? Good bye and good riddance .

But wait a minute. We have created some amazing videos, discovered talents we never knew we had, and learned how to put egos aside and sing unmuted on zoom.  We actually got to know each other better probably through break out rooms. Our website is first class , with even a way to raise money from donations.  We’ve had talented artists give us workshops and we have learned and polished a wide variety of songs.

We miss singing together but  have proven ourselves to be flexible and versatile and blessed with incredible talent.  What perfect timing to discover the many talents of Judy Solomon, our website manager, video producer, Sibelius music transcriber, zoom leader and much more . Thank you, Judy

But we are a team and the contributions from each and every one of you these last 8 months have been the bond holding us together. Each board member and committee chair has reached beyond their comfort zone to find a way to work in this new reality.  We actually have made progress in all areas.  Helen, as president, has continually guided and encouraged task forces to work toward ensuring our future.  Those who have recorded our music for the web, specifically, Lou Ann, Emily, Ann and Brette  and all the breakout room leaders have stepped up “big time”.  Ruthie entertains us with her guitar and Kelly continues to challenge us with new ideas to help us stay up with new technology.  And all of you, have sent in your audio and video which is the most important contribution you could have made.  We should all take a bow and pledge to keep all the good things we have learned this year even as we say goodbye to 2020.

We still have Ain’t misbehaving’ in our back pocket for another video. I’m working on a great arrangement of Route 66 which has clapping, finger snapping and at times 6 part harmonies plus a few solo opportunities.  Really a great piece.  I’m not going to spill all the beans about the new songs, you’ll have to zoom in January for that.

Don’t forget the Musicales. We all have something we can share whether it be banjo, piano, singing, flute, recorder, a favorite recording , a painting you have done, a poem you love or have written, a sweater you have knit.  Just a fun time to share  a little bit of yourself that we might not know about.  Nothing polished just an impromptu gathering.  The musicales will be limited to no more than 8 at a time . I’ll continue to add times if there is demand.   First come, first served. Email or call to get on the list.

Tuesday, January 12th at 2:00

Saturday January 23rd at 2:00

Now,  come to the party and take a well deserved bow.
