Greetings

Sometimes we need to hear each other sing to remember what it is like to sing together.  Just hearing different voices last Thursday helped me believe that we will survive this pandemic and choruses will pop up like dandelions. One on every corner.

I wanted to let you know that Ann Hammond is finally out of the hospital after several weeks and is home, feeling better, able to eat and glad to be improving. Still quarantined for a while but so glad to be home.

Here are important links for this coming week.. Two lead sectionals are planned.  One on Wednesday the 13th at noon and the other on Saturday the 16th at 1:00.  The Saturday hopefully will work for those who are working during the weekday hours.  (All leads are invited to both)

We are making progress on our attempts to tape and video ourselves so that we end up with  a “Brady bunch” picture of us singing.  9 members have signed on to help with this project which will eventually require all of you to participate as singers.  We want the entire chorus represented. As soon as details are finalized you will receive instructions.  It will be fun, easy and so rewarding to hear us all sing.  Meanwhile, really work on New Orleans since that seems to be the song of choice for our first performance.  You need to be solid on your part and the best way to do that is to listen to the tape, sing against another part and then be willing to sing it out loud during your sections sectional. When you do that , you will find out exactly which measures you need to work on.  Its the only way to really, really learn your music.

Let me know if the video is helpful for the choreography to dancing queen.  We had a wall repaired right before lockdown.  They haven’t been able to come in to finish it so that’s what you see in the background.  Isn’t it lovely?

Thursday night we will continue with breakout rooms.  Hopefully my internet connection will not be a problem this week.  More individual singing for the chorus and maybe a chance to answer any questions about choreography now that you have the video. We seem to have plenty to work on during our time together.

See you soon.  Alice
