Hi Everyone,

We have a very full rehearsal planned for this Thursday.  Mary Mauch (who made a brief appearance last week) will be with us for warm ups.  Here’s her bio.

“Mary Doughty Mauch has a wide range of experience as a choral conductor, music teacher, singer, and accompanist. As the spouse of a now-retired Air Force officer, she had the opportunity to study, sing, and conduct throughout the United States and Europe. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education with Honors from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She currently serves on the national board of Chorus America, and, in normal times, is an active clinician.

She currently directs the Wheaton-Glen Ellyn and Lemont-Homer Glen Sounds Good! Choirs, daytime choirs for older adults. Through the pandemic, she has continued to teach virtual private voice and piano lessons, as well as enrichment courses in sight-singing and vocal technique.

She has been a member of the professional core and/or chamber choirs of several major symphony and professional choruses including the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, the Virginia Symphony Chorus, the Virginia Chorale, the Las Vegas Master Singers, the Frankfurter Kantorei, and the Darmstadt Konzertchor.

Her teaching experiences in schools range from kindergarten through college in addition to conducting countless semi-professional, community, and church choirs in both the United States and Germany. She was an active chorale clinician in Stuttgart, Germany and has always enjoyed teaching both piano and voice private students. “

We’ll spend the rest of the rehearsal preparing for our first, in person, gathering on Saturday the 15th at 1:00 at the Lakeview Center in Gillson park.  Kathy sent out an eblast with parking instructions.  If you have questions, give me a call.  WEAR YOUR RED HARMONIZERS TEE SHIRT.  I will have scarves for you on Saturday.  Otherwise, they will be on my porch.  We will collect them after the video.

Now that most of you have sent in your recordings, it’s time to make your video.  I had a great time Saturday with the 8 women who came to have their videos taken.  It was quick, easy and fun.  It actually took no longer than 15 minutes a person. Definitely the way to do this.  If there are more who would like to have their videos done with the green screen, Judy will be doing a few and I could certainly do more as well.

The costume is our black blouse, oval earrings and bright colored scarves (5 colors in all) around the neck looped over once with just a bit of the black blouse showing above the loop.  I’ll show again on Thursday.  Scarves will be at my house and at the May 15th  party.  After May 15th , Carole M. will also have extra scarves for those up north.

Be sure to bring your music on Saturday so that we can sing through as many songs as we wish.

See you Thursday.

Alice
